East London Active Citizens

East London Active Citizens is a new youth leadership and global awareness programme for 18-29 year olds living in the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham and Hackney. The aim is to capacity build young leaders and their organisations to take action for change locally and internationally. The programme is a collaborative project between the CYEC, British Council, Tower Hamlets Council and The Daneford Trust.

East London Active Citizens will be delivered over a number of participative training days. Young leaders will be encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, discuss and debate their opinions and learning with other young leaders in the UK and Bangladesh, and skill-up to design and deliver youth action projects around local/global development themes.

The East London Active Citizens programme includes:

*A five day high quality training programme in Active Citizenship and Global Youth Work
*Access to tools and training manuals, to help you cascade the workshop content to colleagues and young people
*Support from a mentor and a small grant of £300 to help you deliver Social Action Projects with young people, using what you have learnt to make a positive impact in your community
*Online networking with youth leaders in Bangladesh to learn about different international perspectives
*The opportunity to take part in a two-way intercultural exchange with Bangladesh
