Debate to Action

Debate to Action is based around international and national development aimed at young leaders from youth organisations. It is currently running in Africa and the UK and provides opportunities for implementing the Millennium Development Goals within the community. It also offers skills building, interaction and Intercultural Dialogue between Africa and the UK.

Participants learn about international and national frameworks for development -including the UN's Call to Action on the Millennium Development Goals-, their own roles within these frameworks and how to share information effectively with other young people as well as making an impact in their communities. DTA is a youth-empowerment programme through participation encouraging Active Global Citizenship whilst creating opportunities for interaction and Intercultural Dialogue.

I spent the entire morning trying to scrap down on a piece of paper what I’m going to say to you. Writing an entire speech that’s going to be so powerful that I’d feel great about myself because I was hoping that you’d take a message home with you and maybe change your lives. But I realized that I failed at that task. My task is not to stand here and tell you what you already know, what you’ve been doing or what you should do. My task is to stand here and look into your eyes and say you are my brothers and sisters!
